MSF France is running since 2006 a comprehensive reconstructive surgery program for victims of conflicts from neighbouring countries in Amman, Jordan.

These activities include transfer of patients from their country of origin, surgery (plastic, orthopaedics and maxillo-facial), physiotherapy, psycho-social care and food & accommodation.

The Clinical Director is the overall responsible for the quality and smooth functioning of all medical care for all patients in the project, including those residing within the hospital, in private accommodations and in the rehabilitation centre by being in charge if:

Hospital mechanics

Management of clinical teams and collaboration with counterparts

Medical Quality

The Clinical Director participates actively in defining all medical care strategies, and is responsible for ensuring the best quality of medical care for patients.

He/she has the authority to implement the decisions made by the management team and to ensure that hospital policies and standard procedures are followed.

The Clinical Director is an active member of the management team: S/he is involved in decision making processes, and is closely collaborating with all managerial positions.

The Clinical Director is the overall responsible for defining, planning and monitoring medical activities and programs in the hospital in accordance with MSF protocols as well as coordinate human and material related resources needed in order to ensure the quality of care provided by MS

Main tasks of this position:**

Main objectives: To design, set up, coordinate and follow-up the medical project. To manage the medical Management team.

The Clinical Director will be responsible for all medical aspects related to the smooth running of the project and the quality of the medical care for Al Mowasah Hospital (148 beds, approximately 45 admissions per month, 570 consultations per month and around 200 active patients in Amman at the same time including outpatients).

He/She is part of the Hospital Management Team.

Referents:

Reporting: Head of Mission

Positions supervised: Medical activity Manager, Surgeons, Surgical assistants, Anaesthetists, Pharma Manager, Physio Manager, Mental Health Manager, 3D Printing Manager, Antibiotic stewardship and Laboratory Supervisor

Responsibilities towards MSF

Commitment to MSF: Must be available for emergencies**.**

General knowledge of MSF:

General understanding of the association, its function, structure and values (charter).

Awareness of MSF objectives and activities in general and the working context.

Participates actively in meetings and trainings.

Security: Reports any security issues related to patients, visitors, etc.; immediately to dep head of mission.

Cooperation with other departments:

Awareness of security rules and situations in the field at all time.

Awareness of activities of other departments and respects rules and procedures and collaborates

Information source:

Awareness of social and political situation and keeps information up-to-date.

Passes on all relevant information related to MSF scope of action and context.

PROFILE

Education: Medical Doctor, degree in Medicine required. Advanced degree of management a plus.

Experience:

MSF: Field missions with MSF in a management position a plus.

Outside MSF:

Experience in hospital management a plus

Experienced in the management of war-wounded and/or surgical ward a plus

Proven leadership and management skills

Languages:

Fluent English (oral and written) required

Arabic/ French an asset

Skills and competencies:

Planning capabilities, reporting capability, organizational skills, problem solving, multi-tasking, personnel and project management, delegation skills, communication skills, negotiation skills,

Computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint required).

Personal qualities:

Status:

WORK LOCATION: Amman – Al Mowasah Hospital

CONTRACT: Fixed term contract – Full Time – min 1 year

Probable start date: ASAP
